Procedures

At Mir Neurology & Spine Center, our team uses the latest technological innovations to diagnose and treat neurological conditions, including complex and rare disorders. Our commitment to innovation and excellence ensures that our patients receive the most advanced care available.

EEG (Electroencephalogram) Testing

At Mir Neurology & Spine Center, we provide EEG testing for:

  • Seizures

  • Epilepsy

  • Cognitive Dysfunction

An electroencephalogram (EEG) measures the brain’s electrical activity through small electrodes attached to the scalp. This test is used to diagnose sleep disorders, epilepsy, brain tumors, and other neurological conditions.

In analyzing an EEG, Dr. Sarim Mir, MD, evaluates factors such as overall brain wave speed and form. He also looks for abnormalities, such as rapid spiking waves that indicate seizure activity or unusually slow waves associated with tumors or stroke.

EEGs also help monitor blood flow in the brain and overall electrical activity, allowing us to evaluate the effects of brain damage, trauma, and drug abuse.

EMG/NCV Nerve Conduction Testing

At Mir Neurology & Spine Center, we offer EMG/NCV testing for:

  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

  • Cubital Tunnel Syndrome

  • Neuropathy

  • Radiculopathy (pinched nerve)

Electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction velocity (NCV) tests measure electrical activity in muscles and nerves, typically in the arms and legs. These tests help identify conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, and radiculopathy.

While an NCV test measures how fast electrical impulses move through the nerves, an EMG tracks electrical activity in the muscles. Dr. Sarim Mir, MD, often pairs these tests to better identify the location and extent of damage in the nerves and muscles.

BOTOX® Injections

At Mir Neurology & Spine Center, we provide BOTOX® injections for:

  • Migraines

  • Cervical Dystonia

  • Blepharospasm

  • Hemifacial Spasms

BOTOX® is an effective tool for treating movement disorders related to muscle twitches and spasms. Its active ingredient, botulinum toxin, temporarily blocks the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine to reduce muscle contractions.

Patients experiencing conditions associated with overactive muscles, such as cervical dystonia, can benefit from reduced spasticity and restored movement and function through properly administered BOTOX® injections.

Additionally, botulinum toxin can block the release of chemicals that transmit pain signals, making it an effective treatment for chronic migraines.

Dr. Sarim Mir, MD, and his expert healthcare provider team at Mir Neurology & Spine Center are dedicated to offering this advanced treatment to help manage and alleviate your symptoms.
